Today in court during the case against Silvio Zammit, who stands accused of trading in influence to bring about changes in the EU's Tobacco Directive, the former Police Commissioner John Rizzo made a shocking revelation.
Mr Rizzo said that, "together with his investigative team, it was decided that there was enough evidence to arraign Mr Dalli. The case was presented to the Attorney General, who was of the same view."
At this point questions need to be asked, and fast.
How did the new Commissioner - the one who signed all Labour candidates' declarations of election expenses, the one who broke the law to cover up for the Minister who appointed him, the one who refuses to answer legitimate questions by the press - decide on his appointment that "there is not enough proof for a criminal case against former Health Commissioner John Dalli" when his predecessor had all the evidence lined up to arraign him in court?
Keep in mind that this came after Dalli, while serving as EU Commissioner, spent years venting his envy and bitterness towards Gonzi on One television, and that he was appointed by Muscat as Health Consultant a few days after the Commissioner's declaration.
Deals of corruption and scandalous behaviour - that's what this country voted for in March. Because this is how a real clique behaves.
It's now obvious that we have really gone back to the Eighties. Back to the time when you can't even trust the Police Force and its Commissioner - the ones who should be enforcing Law and Order.
Utterly disgraceful.
