Singer William Mangion was telling us in the past days that he does not trust Gonzi anymore because tourism is going downhill, and he is suffering the effect because he is not being asked to perform at hotels as much as he used to do.
I just wish to point out to William that according to figures published by NSO, 2012 is the fourth record year in the last five years. 2,060,000 tourists visited Malta. Tourist arrivals increased by 19%, and tourist expenditure in Malta by 27%. And these results where achieved while the world all over was going through the worst recession in the past 80 years.
Maybe William needs to look for other reasons as to why he is not on such a high demand any more, rather than blaming it on the Prime Minister. Where else in the world is this type of reasoning accepted as logical?
Is-soltu mentalita' socjalista - fejn ma nasalx jien, tort tal-Gvern. Hasra.
With Joseph as Prime Minister, he is hoping more hotels will be sending for him again. Though I cannot for the life of me understand what is the correlation between who is Prime Minister and his musical tastes, and the type of music and singers people and tourists demand at hotels.
Updated May 2013: This time...it's William Mangion
Singer William Mangion, who represented Malta at the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, has been appointed coordinator for the promotion of local bands.
Mr Mangion said he had been offered a one-year contract by the Government to help in the identification of a place where bands could rehearse.
It all starts to add up later...doesn't it?
