You have to read the report of Joseph Muscat's speech in London where he launched the government's citizenship-for-sale scheme for non-EU nationals (before the law is even approved by Parliament, arrogance anyone?). There are two points in his speech which caught my attention:
This relationship is a collective one. It means being able to rely on each other in difficult times and being there to celebrate the good times together. It means making individual sacrifices for the greater good, and knowing that no matter what happens there is a safety net – Maltese society that will always help you get back on your feet.
What is our Prime Minister intending here? How is Malta going to provide a safety net to those who buy Maltese passports? Are the Maltese people, and our national coffers, to act as guarantors should the millionaire go bust or his business get into trouble? This needs to be further explained, because it heavily stinks.
The second point:
The Government’s citizenship programme is aimed at attracting talent to Malta, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said today.
Speaking in London at The Malta Individual Investor Programme, the Prime Minister said the Government’s focus was on the attraction of extremely highly talented and networked people from around the world by offering them the possibility of sharing the Maltese and European journey.
Here the root of our Prime Minister's amorality is made clear: for him, talented and merited people are networked people with money. For our Prime Minister - material wealth and money makes you a talented person.
And this is precisely the root of this government's amoral behaviour. This is why our Prime Minister and his wife saw nothing wrong in befriending and conspiring with millionaire corrupt fraudster Shiv Nair. This is why the Prime Minister sees nothing wrong with leasing his own car to government. This is why the Prime Minister sees nothing wrong in employing his own wife and other Minister's wives. This is why the Prime Minister sees nothing wrong in employing MPs themselves as consultants. This is why the Prime Minister sees nothing wrong with members of Cabinet retaining their private practice. This is why the Prime Minister sees nothing wrong in Ministers lying in their declaration of assets.
For our Prime Minister, these are just ways in which his MPs are making more money, and by making more money, he believes they are becoming more talented and merited.
That's why this government's behaviour is doing more damage to our moral fibre and social fabric than any influx of immigrants can ever do.
But the real scam behind this scheme is that we all know that serious investors won't buy a Maltese passport. Why would they when they can invest for a return on their money, making a profit and at the same time acquiring citizenship by naturalization in other EU countries?
The rich and networked people who would want to buy an EU passport for cash without having their names known, are in their majority criminals, money-launderers and terrorist-cell leaders. And Malta is advertising to be their back-door to Europe and to visa-free travel to the USA.
Shame on you Mr Prime Minister. No one has ever slandered our reputation as much as you.
